Network Fundamentals: Self Study Time

My self Study for network fundamentals has been an exciting and challenging experience. Understanding how networks work is the first step before diving into cybersecurity, and I’m enjoying the journey so far.

Learning the Basics

Networking is at the core of cybersecurity, and I’ve been learning about the OSI model, IP addresses, subnetting, and how data moves through networks. At first, it felt like a lot to take in, but breaking it down step by step has helped me make sense of it. One of the trickiest parts was the OSI model—figuring out how each layer works within a network—but with practice, it started to make more sense.

A Mix of Online Learning and Self-Study

This week’s online course introduced me to the key concepts. From there, I’ve been reinforcing my knowledge through self-study, reviewing materials, and going over what I learned in class. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m determined to build a strong foundation before moving on to the next stage.

Looking Ahead to Cybersecurity for Vehicles

Now that I have a better grasp of networking, I’m excited to take the next step and start learning about cybersecurity. Bring on the next online class when CompTIA Security+ starts!

To anyone else thinking about learning cybersecurity, I’d say take it one step at a time and enjoy the process. There’s a lot to learn, but the combination of online classes and self-study seems to be working for me.
